Minicon 2

Yes, it was so good that we’re doing it again! SAGA Inc. is pleased to announce Minicon 2, another weekend of gaming excitement taking place in the UCSA ballroom!

Time and Place

Minicon 2 will take place on September 4-5, in the UCSA Ballroom. Doors will open at 9am both days. We’re planning five sessions:

  • Saturday morning: 9:30am-12:30pm (3 hours)
  • Saturday afternoon: 1:30pm-5:30pm (4 hours)
  • Saturday evening: 7:00pm-11:00pm (4 hours)
  • Sunday morning: 9:30am-12:30pm (3 hours)
  • Sunday afternoon: 1:30pm-5:30pm (4 hours)

Events that don’t fit into a 4 hour session slot may run at strange times.

Entry and signup

Entry is open to SAGA Inc. members only, and will cost $5 to pay for any costs related to the venue (club signups will be accepted on the door). There is no need to sign up before the weekend if you’re simply planning to come and play games. However, if you wish to run something at Minicon 2, we highly suggest you sign up here. Not only will your name appear on this website, but we will supply you with something to keep you going at the con as a token of our thanks.

Non-members who show up will have to sign up, but if you sign up on the day you’ll get a $3 discount on entry (so membership + entry will cost you $7 total).

Events

This is not indicative of all events that will run at Minicon 2. Board games and the like will be available for any attendees to play over the course of the convention.

Register your event here. We’re looking for RPGs, big boardgames (4-hour games, or games that you wouldn’t usually play), wargames and the like. GMs get free food, but only if they’ve registered their event before the day.

The Temple of the West Wind

Wushu/Lady Blackbird // Jan-Yves Ruzicka // 4 players // Saturday PM

Your master Lu Wang is dead, killed by the ruby-eyed man. The Dagger of Jade has been stolen. The Temple of the West Wind has been torched to the ground, the Shrine to All Winds defiled.

Now the four of you cling to an overloaded bus as it trundles into Chengdu, on the trail of the ruby-eyed man.

For France and the Musketeers!

Ubiquity (All for One: Regime Diabolique) // Philip Burge // 4-6 players // Any slot

It is 1636 and France is at war with the Hapsburg Empire and Spain. The evil Spaniards have even invaded west into France herself! When a message makes it through the Spanish lines to arrive at Musketeer Head Quarters in Paris there is obvious interest. The message is from a retired Musketeer living in the foothills of the Pyrenees. Passions are inflamed when it turns out that the message is about French peasants disappearing from their farms and villages! The obvious conclusion is that the evil Spanish are behind it! With the armies of France already engaged with the Spanish forces as they march towards Paris, it is up to a brave band of Musketeers to embrace the Musketeer motto “all for one, and one for all,” and aid their old comrade against the Spanish threat to the peasants of the Pyrenees!

IMPORTANT NOTE: Historical accuracy is unlikely. You have been warned.

Respect. Trust. SAGEFIGHT.

Sagefight // Jan-Yves Ruzicka // Yes players // Saturday evening

Emerging from the holocaust of GenCon 2010, there came a new way of fighting. Game designers put down their d20s for the thrill of real combat. Timing. Grace. Power. SAGEFIGHT.

As seen at GenCon 2010, I will attempt to run SAGEFIGHT on Saturday night. SAGEFIGHT is a combination of martial arts, dance, stupidity, and ridiculousness that requires zero skill to participate in. While two people can participate in a SAGEFIGHT duel, more people = more fun!

More info at sagefight HQ.

Wargaming

Command Decision 3 // Frank Ansell // 2-4 players // 2 consecutive timeslots

I am happy to run a wargame if there is sufficient interest. This will probably be similar to previous games I’ve run (see here) and will be modern combat, 1/72 scale. I will supply all equipment, I only need players. Last time we ran this the game lasted most of the day, so I expect this to take two timeslots. I’m happy to run the game at whatever time suits everyone.

If anyone has any questions at all please feel free to email me at frankansell@gmail.com. If I don’t get enough players then I won’t run the game but we can always arrange to play at a later date if everyone who is keen is booked out for minicon.

(NB: Event booked out)

Mist of Change

Fuzion // Nate Gunby // 4 players // Unspecified time

The local wizard’s tower has reduced itself to rubble, and now things are changing…What is that mysterious gray mist doing, and what is hiding in it?

Mists of Change is a low fantasy/horror game for 4 players

Attack! 2 : Revenge of the Attack!

Attack! // Mark Berry // 4-6 players // All day Saturday

For those that watched the Attack game last Minicon and wanted to get in on the action but couldn’t, I present to you:

Attack! 2 : Revenge of the Attack!

Featuring the proud nations of Red, Green, Blue, Tan, other Tan and Grey! Great government systems such as Democracy, Fascism, Communism and for those that fancy themselves King or Queen for a day, Monarchy!

No scenario or anything, just WW2 style warfare in a WW2 era.

Ideally looking for those that didn’t get to play in the last Attack! game but wanted to. Will be running it on Saturday. Want to start at or before 10 am if everyone is there and go through to a time prearranged and agreed upon by all but sometime in the late afternoon or early evening.

Easy to learn rules and fun mechanics, should hopefully be a fun day for those involved.

Expressions of interest not required, but appreciated.
