It's clear that there is something wrong with the world - nations once hailed for their freedoms descending into fascism, irrational fundamentalists in positions of power, corruption at the highest level of government.
It's easy to sit here, laughing at the antics of the Americans, the Brits and the Russians. Can we afford to believe that New Zealand isn't entangled in the whole mess? That when they fall to pieces that we'll survive?
Maybe its not that bad. Maybe all we see is the worst, and the world truly is a better place. Maybe humanity is working together towards a better future in its strange and confused way. But maybe not. Who knows what motivates people.
