SAGA Inc. on the Internet

If you want to keep up with SAGA activities, your best bet is to like us on Facebook. The SAGA page on Facebook has a list of recent articles on the website, notices for members, upcoming events, and the like.

You may also want to join our mailing list on Yahoo! groups. SAGA members can use the mailing list to get in touch with one another, advertise game vacancies, and the like.

Gaming in New Zealand

If you’re on the lookout for other New Zealand clubs, you might want to stop by NZRaG, the NZ Roleplaying and Gaming forums. SAGA’s section on NZRaG is quiet, but most of the folks in Wellington use the forums, and you’ll be able to check out news on their events. There’s a few conventions throughout the year in Wellington, so it’s worth checking out.

If LARPing is more your thing, check out the diatribe forums for news on Live Action gaming in New Zealand. There’s a pretty big LARP base in Auckland which is slowly flowing into Wellington, so if you happen to be around there, Diatribe might be the best place to find a game.

Finally, if you want to check out what’s happening in board gaming around the country, there’s a New Zealand section on BoardGameGeek that you may wish to check out.

Roleplaying in Wellington is done by WARGS, who apparently hang out exclusively on NZRaG. Auckland roleplaying is organised through AMERICA, and in Dunedin you’ll want to talk to OURS or NextGen Games.

Buying Games

Comics Compulsion, located at 181, is Christchurch’s friendly local gaming store. While they have a selection of their products available online, I recommend checking the store out in person. They have a sizeable stash of board games and RPGs, and there’s frequently a number of books, supplements, and periodicals on clearance.

SAGA members receive a 5% discount at Comics Compulsion.

Urban Games is a great source for board games on the net. They have an extensive range of games of all genres, and can ship nationally or internationally.

Seriously Board, similar to Urban Games, offer a selection of popular board games at very competitive prices.

SAGA members receive a 5% discount at Seriously Board by using the coupon code: SAGA

Boardgame Rentals allows you to rent a board game for a week or two, play it and then return it – at a fraction of the price. At least now you won’t spend $80 on a dud of a game, only to find out after a couple of days’ play.
