University of Canterbury's gaming clubThe aim of the society is "To encourage the hobby of gaming, including but not limited to role-playing games, wargames, board games, and card games, and to aid its members in the pursuit of these hobbies." - Saga Constitution.
Fundamentally, SAGA is a roleplaying and wargaming club, because that is what its members meet twice weekly to do. However SAGA is also a social group, where roleplayers and gamers and their like can meet people with similar interests. It provides a forum where games and players can be sought, campaigns made or joined, systems or ideas discussed, shredded and reassembled, or a one-off evening with a board game arranged.
We are located in Christchurch, South Island, New Zealand, Southern Hemisphere. We're not sure why people keep thinking that we're in the USA.
Roleplaying A wide range of roleplaying games are played here, from traditional hack and slash campaigns to tense diplomatic negotiations, and the systems range from Dungeons and Dragons to free-form card-based systems to dice-less one-offs. The club owns a selection of roleplaying games and supplements.
We enjoy live roleplaying (when we get the chance), and this is a major feature of BOD. We supported a local Vampire LARP (http://www.covenant.org.nz/) and are eager to hear from anyone else wishing to run a one-session or longer game.
WargamingA significant portion of the club are interested in modelling, and in playing wargames including Warhammer, Warhammer 40K, and of course re-enactments of the First and Second World Wars (usually) using the Command Decision system. Wargaming competitions supported by the club.
Board GamesThe club owns a wide range of board games, which can be played at the university or loaned out to members for their enjoyment. Members of the club can be found who enjoy and regularly participate in diplomatic style games, or collectable card games such as Magic the Gathering.
Card GamesAlthough collectible card games such as Magic the Gathering do not currently have a large presence at gaming evenings, a good portion of SAGA members do have a deck or two tucked away somewhere.

Saga's quarterly newsletter is a good little magazine which always makes an enjoyable read. Its highlights include relevent roleplaying articles and synopses, information on upcoming events and member's artwork. OOC is always something to look forward to, and is always looking for contributors - mail publications@saga.org.nz with your salacious gossip and articles.
